How to Make a Hair Topper Look Natural

Welcome to the magical world of hair toppers!

You finally took the plunge and got yourself some new hair. Congrats!

But...straight out of the box, your topper might need some TLC. At Lusta, we've designed our pieces to be super easy so you don't have to do much work to make it look ultra realistic.

First off, this blog is going to give you tips which apply specifically to human hair pieces. If the hair topper you have is synthetic, some of these tips won't apply to you. As synthetic toppers are made out of plastics, they are mostly unable to be style with heat. Human hair toppers are much more flexible in the way you can style and customise them to make them your own.

There's a few things you can do to make your topper look absolutely undectable. Ready? Here we go...

  1. Wet & Blowdry

The very first thing you should do with your human hair topper is wet and blowdry her. This allows you to give your new topper a little refresh so she's looking her absolute best. We reccomend using a spray bottle to make your topper slightly wet, and then blowdry using a blowdryer with a nozzle attachment (as this means the heat isn't as harsh on the piece). Opt for a medium heat.

This is also a great opportunity to change the part line. If your piece is a Lusta topper, you have the option to move your part anywhere you like within the 4 inch x 4 inch silk top area. Left, right, middle, whatever feels most like you!

  2. Customisations

Customising your hair topper is an awesome way to make it feel more like you. We highly reccomend adding a cut to your piece. This could be a Thinning and Softening Cut to make your piece more light and lower density, or a Signature Cut to add some face-framing layers. You can have your piece cut by our Lusta Team or your local stylist.

  3. Blending with Clingy Fibers

Have you heard of Clingy Fibers? It's the little sister brand to Lusta. Clingy is a cotton-based fiber which you spray onto your hair to make it look thicker. And it's AWESOME for blending. For a lot of women, the hair at their hair line is thinner than the topper hair, and adding a bit of Clingy can help you thicken your hair line for a seamless blend.

  4. Practice, practice, practice!

Although Clingy can definitely elevate your blend game, you might need a little bit of practice to nail the perfect, ultra-realistic blend (not everyone can be a topper natural!).

Sit down in front of your mirror. Grab a coffee or a wine. Pull up the Lusta Instagram to watch all our blending tutorials and spend the evening getting well-acquainted with your hair BFF.

    You got this!
