There's a lot of reasons to love our job at Lusta. I mean, we get to make hair dreams come true all over the world, every single day. That's pretty epic.
But, perhaps our favourite part of Lusta Hair is being able to help kids and teenagers through our Lusta Children's Project. We established the Lusta Children's Project in early 2023 as a way to help young women struggling with hair loss to get their confidence back. We know all too well what it's like growing up with hair loss and how much it can affect your day-to-day life. The financial strain on families to get their kids high quality wigs can be tough. That's why the Lusta Children's project exists. To give kids and teenagers the hair of their dreams.
Let's take a look at some of the hair transformations we've achieved through our free wigs for kids program!
-
Aisha
The very first recipient of the Lusta Children's Project was the gorgeous Aisha! Aisha came to us after her began falling out a few months prior. Aisha has alopecia, which can be incredibly unpredictable. She wasn't sure whether more hair would fall out, if it would stay the same or if it would grow back. Either way, we wanted to make sure Aisha was covered no matter what alopecia threw at her.

Isabella
Isabella is a 15 year old girl from New South Wales with Alopecia. Isabella's alopecia began when she was in 6th grade and she's worn a few wigs in the past. However, these wigs weren't comfortable, would fall off and felt very bulky. We wanted to help Isabella find a wig that really felt like her. This is what she chose!

Sienna
Meet Sienna! Sienna is 13 years old and was born with Cartilage Hair Hypoplasia. This condition means that Sienna doesn't grow in the same way other people do, which includes her hair! She's been wearing wigs in the past, but like Isabella, they just weren't right.
Sienna is a basketball player and she wanted a super secure wig for her games. We think we nailed it.

Nya
Nya is 14 years old and has alopecia. Her hair loss has been very unpredictable over the course of her life. It's grown back and fallen out a few times before, but now she's rocking the bald look. We were so thrilled to help Nya find her perfect wig through our free wigs for kids program!

Rosanna
Rosanna is a 15 year old girl with trichotillomania (trich). Trich is a compulsive hair-pulling disorder in the Body Focused Repetive Behaviours category. Rosanna also has autism.
Rosanna moved from Hong Kong to Australia which was an incredibly stressful experience, causing her trich to start. Rosanna hasn't seen herself with hair in YEARS and putting this wig on for the first time was a very special moment.

Sasha
Sasha is 5 years old and has alopecia. Her hair has been falling out and she's been finding it difficult. We were so grateful to be able to help Sasha find her dream wig! We had a lot of fun with Sasha trying on hair and even getting a hair cut!
We've loved being able to contribute to the hair journey's of these incredible young women! We're really excited to help more young girls in 2024. If you'd like to apply for the Lusta Children's Project, click HERE.
