What's the deal with curly toppers and wigs?
If you've been stalking the Lusta Hair website, you might have noticed that all our pieces dry naturally straight. We add a loose curl using heat to achieve that gorgeous wave you see.
But, loose curls aren't the only style you can achieve with your Lusta piece. You can create super curly pieces which imitate your naturally curly locks.
Curly human hair is incredibly difficult to source for toppers and wigs- and nearly impossible to find in Lusta's highest quality hair. Instead, our curly hair customers style their pieces to match their own hair- or opt for a perm.
Let's talk about the options for curly toppers and wigs.
1. Heat Styling
Our first tip for creating natural-looking curly hair in your piece is to style with heat.
There's a few ways you can do that. Firstly, you can use a hair straightener to curl your piece with super fine curls.
Secondly, you can use a min-barrel curler to create those gorgeous ringlets. We reccomend a 19mm or smaller barrel. This is our personal favourite as it makes it easier to curl and creates perfect little ringlets.
Once you've had a bit of practice, these styles only take 30 mins- 1 hour. And, you'll only have to style your piece once per month!

2. Braids
Braids are a super simple way to create perfect ringlets in your wig or topper.
If you're already a braiding expert, you're already one step ahead. If not, go watch this tutorial on how we braid our pieces to create awesome curls.
Simply braid your piece and wet all the hair with a spray bottle. Leave your piece to dry overnight (or use a blowdryer if you're impatient).
Once dry, unravel your braids to reveal your brand new coily locks!
This style will hold really well for a month, or until you next wash your piece.
With this style, it's important to note you have less control over the final product than you would through using a heat tool. Nonetheless, these curls come out so beautiful and textured!

3. Perming
You can also achieve your dream curls through perming.
We reccomend only perming virgin hair Lusta pieces (this is Natural Black, Natural Darkest Brunette and Natural Rich Brunette).
Already processed pieces, aka brunettes and blondes, are less likely to be able to endure the harsh chemicals of a perm- so it's best to only have virgin pieces permed.

CURLY HAIR FAQs
Other brands sell naturally curly hair... why don't you?
Great question! There's a few brands out there that provide naturally curly hair. However, at Lusta we never want to sacrafice the quality of our hair. Naturally curly hair is impossible to find at Lusta quality. Less than 20% of people in the world have naturally curly hair, and the amount of people with curly hair donating their locks is only a tiny percetage of this.
That's why we find that styling our high quality pieces is the BEST option for curly hair girls. You get our incredible, high quality hair AND the perfect curls. It also allows you to match the piece to your own unique curl pattern.
I don't have the time to style my piece. What else can I do?
Styling your piece doesn't take as long as you might think! Unlike your own hair, you won't have to style your piece everyday- in fact, you only need to spend around 1-2 hours PER MONTH styling your wig or topper.
In saying that, if you don't have enough time each month to curl your piece, you could ask around with your local hair stylists to find someone who might be happy to style your piece. You could also look into perming for a more permanent option.
Will using heat to curl the piece affect its quality?
Short answer: NO!
As our pieces are made with the finest quality 100% remy human hair, they are all able to styled with heat without causing damage.
However, we suggest using a high-quality, salon-grade, sulphate-free heat protectant on your piece before styling. Set your heat tools to 180 degrees celcius (65 degrees farenheit) or a medium heat setting.
Should I use curl products?
Although curl products aren't necessary, you can use products if you would like extra hold for your curls. We reccomend using salon-grade, sulphate-free products only.
