Our pieces are a labour of love ❤️ There's a lot of work which goes on to create the most beautiful wigs and toppers that will last for YEARS of daily wear.

Human hair pieces aren't cheap- and there's a good reason for that! Hours and hours of work goes into creating each piece and the materials to make them aren't free either (and we wouldn't want them to be! We want to make sure everyone involved in the process gets paid for what they do).

Although we can't speak for other brands or wig makers, we wanted to give you a little insight into the Lusta process. Every brand creates their pieces in a different way with a different design. Let's deep dive into Lusta's!

Step 1. Colour Processing

Did you know that all our hair starts as virgin, unprocessed dark hair and is coloured to create the awesome rainbow of Lusta colours? Yep! Our colourists are seriously incredible at what they create. During this process, the hair will be treated to create base colours for more specialised colouring later in the process.

Step 2. Sewing the silk top

The silk top of our pieces each take nearly 100 hours to sew! Yep, each hair is sewn in individually by hand. It's super delicate, careful work which can only be done by the BEST sewers. The hair needs to be sewn into the silk in a specific way which allows the hair to be moved or parted in different ways.

Step 3. Sewing the wefts

The wefts are sewn onto the material in rows of hair to give coverage around your crown. This can take a varying amount of time depending on whether it's a wig or a topper and how large the cap is.

Step 4. Add the clips

If the piece has clips- this is when they'll be added. The clips are sewn on by hand to each piece.

Step 4. Hair stylist magic

Now that the topper is complete, it's time for our Stylist Team to work their magic! Most of our Lusta pieces have colour added to them by the Lusta Style Team- aside from a few colours such as Natural Darkest Brunette and Natural Black (these colours are already ready to go!).

Our Style Team will add various cuts and colours to each piece to suit each customer. For example, adding bangs, extra thinning or a root smudge. Our stylists will work on each piece for up to 10 hours.
