From Hair Loss to Helping Women Worldwide
In 2009, when Kimberly was just 19 years old, she started losing her hair, over 60% of it. Like so many women facing unexpected hair loss, she tried everything: vitamins, supplements, PRP injections, hair extensions, red light laser caps, topical treatments, shampoos, and countless specialists.
Nothing worked.
Her world revolved around fixing her hair, and nothing seemed to give her peace.
2014
The Discovery That Changed Everything
One day, her hairdresser mentioned hair toppers, something Kimberly had never heard of. She found a local salon that stocked them and gave it a try.
The first time she wore a topper, she felt a small spark of her old confidence returning.
At the time, Kimberly was a school teacher, but her thoughts were still consumed with comparing her thinning hair to everyone else’s. The topper gave her some relief, a way to feel like herself again.
2018
Sharing Her Journey
After years of hiding her struggle, Kimberly began sharing her thin-hair journey on Instagram, long before it was common to be vulnerable about hair loss online. She became one of the pioneers in the hair loss community, openly talking about the emotional side of wearing hair.
Through this, she found a community of women just like her, women who avoided camping trips, swimming, or windy days, who spent hours teasing their hair to hide widening part lines. For the first time, none of them felt alone.
2019
The Birth of Lusta
As Kimberly connected with more women, she realised one thing: while hair toppers gave confidence, the ones available weren’t right. The hair didn’t feel natural. The caps were uncomfortable. The styles didn’t blend.
Brands began sending her pieces to review, but nothing met her expectations, so she decided to create her own solution.
That was the moment Lusta was born.
