A mannequin head is going to be your best friend when it comes to your alternative hair pieces. A mannequin head really is a must-have for any hair-wearer.

Why? A few reasons...

• A mannequin head will help keep the shape of your wig or topper when you're not wearing it.
• A mannequin head is super handy for drying your wig (and maintaining its shape) after a wash
• A mannequin head makes styling your hair sooooo much easier.

How do you find the right mannequin head?

There are a few different types of mannequin heads out there. And we get that it can be a little confusing to pick the right one! Let's break it down...

We'll start with the types of mannequin heads we don't recommend.

❌ CANVAS FABRIC MANNEQUIN HEADS

These mannequin heads are okay for styling, however, they can't be used for drying your piece. The fabric material will absorb any water leaving it smelling musty and damp. If you're only using this type of mannequin head for storage that's A-Okay!

❌ STYROFOAM MANNEQUIN HEADS

Again, these mannequin heads aren't great for styling or drying your piece. A styrofoam head can work for storing over night, but can't be used for much else.

✅ PLASTIC MANNEQUIN HEAD WITH STAND

The option you want to look for is a plastic mannequin head with a tripod stand or table clamp.

This is our favourite option for our wigs and can be used to dry, style and store your wig or topper.

Let's talk about exactly what you'll want to get....

1. Mannequin Head

You'll be looking for heads that look like this 👇

When choosing a mannequin head size, pick one which is the same or slightly smaller than your head circumference / circumference of your wig so the mannequin doesn’t stretch it out.

2. Tripod Stand or Table Clamp

Next, you'll choose either a tripod stand or table clamp stand.

A tripod stand is our preferred option as it makes styling super easy! However, tripod stands can take up a little more room.

You'll be looking for a tripod stand like these 👇

Make sure to choose a tripod stand with pedals! This will help stabilise the stand to make styling so much easier.

Or, you can opt for a table clamp. A table clamp is smaller and won't take up too much space. However, it can make styling a little trickier.

BONUS TIP: T-Pins

T-pins are special pins you can use to secure your wig or topper to the mannequin head.

For many wig-wearers, T-Pins aren't a necessity as the wig will naturally grip onto the mannequin head. However, for topper-wearers, we highly recommend picking up some T-Pins too.
