Will Your Wig Look Fake?

Will Your Wig Look Fake?

You're at a party and someone asks you "are you wearing a wig?!" It's nightmare fuel.

You don't want your wig to fake. You don't want anyone to notice that your hair is not your own, I totally get it!

Yes, there are some fake-looking wigs out there BUT there are also some very, very realistic wigs. For instance, Lusta's, I mean...look at this! There's no way you could tell that this isn't growing out of my head.

So, if some wigs look realistic, what makes them that way? What sets them apart from the Halloween-costume wigs?

Cap Construction

Firstly, the cap construction of your wig plays a huge part in the realism of your wig. At Lusta, we have two types of cap construction, The Luxe (lace top) and The Game Changer (silk top). Both of these constructions give a really realistic scalp look, so no one will know it's not growing right out of your head.

Hair Quality & Density

The quality of the hair will also impact how realistic your wig looks.

Synthetic hair usually looks the most 'fake'. This is because synthetic pieces don't have the same movement as human hair.

Human hair will look more realistic, however, there are many differences in the quality of human hair.

Lower quality human hair will knot more easily, making the wig look frizzy or fake. Whereas high quality hair will look more realistic.

At Lusta, we only use the highest quality human hair so your wig will have beautiful natural movement.

Additionally, how thick or how 'dense' your wig is will contribute to its realism. Wigs that look 'wiggy' are usually very high density. The thickness of the wig gives a bulky, unrealistic appearance. Whereas lower density pieces look more natural.

Fit

Finally, the fit of the wig will impact how realistic your wig is. Wigs that are too big can look bulky or baggy. Whereas if your wig is snug to your head it will lay flatter, giving a more realistic appearance.

At Lusta, our wigs fit like a glove, giving a smooth, sleek appearance.

There is a lot that goes into making wigs look realistic, from the intricate sewing to the hand-colouring. Making a realistic wig is no easy task but having a wig that makes women all over the world feel confident and makes them feel like their best selves is SO worth it!
